Cosmetic Surgery - The Risk of Procedure For Breast Augmentation and Reduction

Breast cosmetic procedures are very popular among women. They provide solutions for those who have a lot and those who have less. Having either large or small breasts can cause discomfort both physically and psychologically. For starters, women who have large breasts are prone to spine problems due to the effect of gravity. If not taken care of early, they can age with a curved spine, which can eventually cause restrictions in mobility.

On the other hand, having small breasts can cause low self esteem and insecurity. Women normally believe that the main features of their body that men are attracted to are their breast. Due to this notion, it is quite normal for someone to feel insecure about their small breasts. Luckily, breast augmentation and reduction has been available for decades and although there are some real horror stories about the procedure, women are still willing to risk everything just to achieve those perfect breasts.

Unfortunately, breast augmentation cannot last a lifetime and the implants used for the procedure can break overtime. However, if the implants do rupture, their contents are harmless even though they get absorbed by the body within hours. Leakage can be easily recognized because there is an evident change in the size of the breast.

Another common occurrence with breast augmentation procedures is what doctors call the capsular contracture. During this phenomenon, the capsule or scar surrounding the implants starts to harden and tighten. This causes the breast to feel tight and hard. Luckily, there are several methods of preventing such event from happening and also treat it if it does happens.

As for breast reduction, there is a risk for bleeding, reaction to the anesthesia or infection. There are also some patients that may develop sores around their nipples after the surgery though these can be treated with antibiotics.
